The 5 franc banknote was issued by Switzerland from 1914 up until 1980. It equaled 5.00 francs then, but as of 2000, these notes are worthless.

These banknotes were printed by Orell Gessner Füssli and designed by employee, S. Balzer. The 5 franc banknote was 125 millimeters in width by 70 millimeters in height. The predominant color of the note was green-brown. Its obverse featured William Tell in a medallion while the reverse displayed ornaments, a rosette, and the value of the banknote.
