The 100,000 peso banknote was issued by the Bank of Mexico from 1988 to 1991 in series A to AT. Of all banknotes issued by Mexico, it has had the largest value.

The note was 155 mm in width by 67 mm in height. It was mainly colored red. The obverse of the coin featured Plutarco Elías Calles, the 40th president of Mexico, while the reverse featured the landscape of Sonora.
