The quebracho was a local currency authorized by Law 4951 to be issued in the Chaco Province of Argentina from 2001 to 2002, during the Argentine economic crisis. The name was derived from a tree, which was in turn derived from quebrar hacha, meaning "axe-breaker".
The currency comprised solely of banknotes, with denominations of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100 quebrachos. It was pegged to the Argentine peso.
