The céntimo, alternately spelled as centimo or cêntimo, is a currency unit used by Spain and other countries formerly influenced by Spain or Portugal. It is derived from the Latin word centum, meaning "hundred". Thus, the céntimo is typically valued at one hundredth of a monetary unit.
