Hello. If you do not know who I am, I am Dser, Currency Wiki's founder and head administrator. I recently began considering redesigning the wiki's infobox templates, as myself and a few other individuals recently began feeling that such templates on Currency Wiki appear rather unappealing and dull. I have already made a test design for Template:Coin here, and this is the general design we eventually expect to use for all of our infoboxes. Unlike most of the current infobox templates, the new templates do not include any obsolescent HTML elements, and are thus HTML5 compliant. Today I will be adding some CSS code to the wiki that will alter some parts of pre-existing infoboxes. This code should make the formatting of the new infoboxes easier…

When anyone begins to delve into the fascinating world of collecting coins, they begin to contemplate the sometimes confusing array of possibilities regarding where to start, what coins to research or buy, who to talk to about the various coin types, sets, mintage marks and histories, and so on. Like any new hobby, the pursuit will boil down to the individual’s passion, dedication, budget, willingness to learn, and when it comes to coins, a whole lot of patience.
Many newly-minted coin entrepreneurs set off on this captivating journey with the greatest of enthusiasm, their eyes on the rarest prize, and if they are shrewd enough, some even dream of making some kind of fortune, or at least a decent financial show for their efforts. Most colle…

I've been considering making a YouTube account for Currency Wiki for a few months. Recently, I have voiced my idea to various trustworthy users throughout the Wikia network, and they've encouraged me to go forward with it, claiming it would definitely help bring more people to the wiki. For the videos, I plan on making weekly podcasts about specific coins and banknotes, and also to broadcast events happening on the wiki. I hope to publish the first video some time this summer or during autumn and am greatly looking forward to it.
Please post your ideas, opinions, questions, and concerns in the comments below.

Today (June 9, 2012), we created an Internet Relay Chat (IRC) channel for Currency Wiki. It is very similar to Special:Chat, but has a few more functions that you can learn more about here. The reason we decided to create an IRC channel for the wiki is because, as chat is still a quite new feature on Wikia, it has a tendency to occasionally crash. Anyone is allowed to enter our IRC channel at any time, but before using it, I would recommend you read our IRC rules and guidelines.
Try it out!

Yesterday, on May 15, 2012, the Bank of Namibia issued a new series of banknotes. All of these banknotes bear the signature of the current governor of the Bank of Namibia, Ipumbu Shiimi. The new 10 and 20 dollar notes bear portraits of President Sam Nujoma, while the higher denominations of 50, 100, and 200 dollars still bear the same image of King Hendrik Witbooi shown on the previous series. New security features, such as color-changing items, watermarks, raised printing, relief marks, and security threads have been applied to the 2012 series to prevent counterfeiting. The same animals depicted on the reverses of the original series are still displayed on the new notes, but now they can be found in the center, rather than to the right li…

As of September 25, 2011, all achievements badges have been removed from Currency Wiki. The reasons behind this are:
- The achievements made Currency Wiki appear a bit unprofessional.
- They encourage people just to edit to gain points.
- Bots would easily take the top of the leaderboard.
- Admins generally have more opportunities to gain achievements.

As of April 17, 2011, I have created an infobox prototype for nations. It is different in appearance than Wikipedia's template, using the typical design of , , and with a few additions.
I am personally not very knowledged in the creation of templates but I decided to use the typical infobox design for the following purposes:
- Wikipedia's infobox contained too many parameters.
- I did not know which parameters to remove on Wikipedia's infobox.
- I wanted to create a sense of originality, though the design of the infobox itself comes from Wikipedia.
As of now, I am thinking of adding the following parameters:
I hope to have the infobox up by April 20.[[Category:Admin blog posts|]]

After noticing policies on Wookieepedia, I have considered adding comprehensive articles, which are basically articles that meet the guidelines for a good article, but is too short. Next month, I will decide whether this type of article should be added.
After doing some thinking, I decided that it would be too difficult to realize if a short article has all of its known information. Therefore, comprehensive articles will not be added on .[[Category:Admin blog posts|]]

As on Wikipedia and several other Wikia project, in order for an article to become featured, it must be nominated as a good article before it can advance. Good articles on are expected to be plentiful, and will most likely be added within the next few months. However, before good articles can be added, a proper image must be used to symbolize one.
For the symbol, I decided upon the design of the obverse of the Swiss 2 centime coin, which features a plus, just as Wikipedia's symbol () does. I was originally going to search for an image of a coin with a silver or bronze-colored star on it, but after recognizing by possession of this coin, decided to use it for good articles.[[Category:Admin blog posts|]]

I am hoping to include featured articles and featured images next month, but before that happens, atleast two articles of amazing quality will have to be created. I am currently working on the banknote article and am planning on creating an article soon about the United States dollar that would match the criteria for featured article.
As for featured images, I believe that is set for this competition. A number of outstanding images have already been uploaded and for some, it will be hard to determine what I will want to nominate as FI, but was thinking along the lines of .
But before anything becomes featured, an image to designate something is featured must be added. I was thinking along the lines of the reverse of the United States stella…
