The 1 argentino coin was minted by Argentina from 1881 to 1896. It had a face value of 5 pesos.

The coin was composed of .900 fine gold, weighed 8 grams, and measured 22.12 millimeters in diameter and 1.5 millimeters in thickness. It was designed by Eugène André Oudiné. Depicted on the obverse was Liberty with the value (inscribed as "UN ARGENTINO" and "5 PESOS") and two legends, one reading "LIBERTAD", and the other reading "9 DOSFINO". Displayed on the reverse was the coat of arms of Argentina, with the state title (REPUBLICA ARGENTINA) inscribed above, and the year of minting below. A total of 6,344,000 of these coins were produced.
